Paddling for Teachers is a fundraiser to help offset out of pocket expenses that District Five educators face each school year for needed supplies not covered by the district.
Jondy and Ken Loveless are sponsoring the event and asking for donations with a goal of $5000. The event is to paddle a canoe from Dreher Island State Park to the Dreher Shoals dam boat ramp on the Irmo side.
The trip is nearly 12 miles long and they plan on taking four to five hours to complete the journey. Leaving at 6am from Dreher Island, anyone wishing to join Jondy and Ken can paddle along side or cheer the paddlers on as they approach the open water and Bomb Island.
