Phyllis Griggs named River Springs Teacher of the Year

River Springs principal Matt Gams announced at a ceremony held at River Springs that the 2019-2020 River Springs Teacher of the Year was kindergarten teacher Phyllis Griggs.

Gams said, “I am happy to present Mrs. Griggs with this honor as she has exemplified incredible dedication to her students and to the school.” “I do not know of anyone who is more deserving of this recognition and she has been invaluable to the River Springs community.”

Mrs. Griggs has been at River Springs since the school opened and has taught for most of her 27 years of teaching at the school.

Griggs said, ” I am honored to receive this award as they are so many wonderful teachers at this school.” “I have always wanted to be a teacher and I appreciate the opportunity to teach such great students and have supportive principals.”

One of the things that Mrs. Griggs loves about her tenure at River Springs is the opportunity to see some of her early students that have followed in her footsteps to become teachers themselves.
