Riverland Hills Baptist Church is inviting the community to join its 12-week “Run for God” program, a unique blend of faith-based Bible study and group fitness training designed to prepare participants for a 5K (3.1-mile) or 10K (6.2-mile) road race. A 5K walking program is also available.
The program begins February 9 and meets three times a week—on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m. at Riverland Hills Baptist Church (201 Lake Murray Boulevard). Participants who complete the program will run or walk in a local road race on May 3.
Who Can Participate?
Run for God is designed for beginners—no prior running experience is required. Adults and children in 7th grade or older (with a parent) are welcome to join.
Program Highlights:
- Weekly Bible study sessions drawing parallels between endurance in running and faith.
- Group training sessions for motivation and support.
- A $45 registration fee (includes two race shirts and entry into the Ring the Bell 5K on May 3 at Saluda Shoals Park).
- Registration deadline: February 2.
“Since we first started this program in 2011, we’ve introduced hundreds of people to the sport of running,” said Run for God coordinator Jeanna Moffett. “This recreation ministry can improve both the spiritual and physical aspects of people’s lives and make a tremendous difference in their overall health and well-being.”
