SC Career Kids has announced the members of its 2026 Board of Directors, who will guide the organization’s mission and growth in the coming year. Serving on the board are Wanda Austin, Laura Boccanfuso, Emily Heatwole Keeney, Sheriff Leon Lott, Justin Petty, and Alexis Short.
SC Career Kids began as an alternative classroom housed within the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of a certified teacher, an assistant, and a small group of students, founder Katy Wiggs transformed the chamber office into an innovative one-room schoolhouse, inviting community leaders and business owners to engage directly with children.
Since its founding, the nonprofit has expanded significantly, now offering Summer and Spring Camps, Safety Town, After School Career Club, and Virtual Exploration programs. Each initiative is designed to help children build essential skills and explore career paths as preparation for the future workforce.
