Scouts deliver food to Sharing God’s Love

Troop 91 from the Irmo area participated in the Scouting for Food drive to help restock the shelves of Sharing God’s Love Food Bank in Irmo.

Sharing God’s Love received more than 1895 pounds of food items and cash donations of almost $700.

“Troop 91 has helped to fill-up our food pantry,” said Richie Eisenman of Sharing God’s Love. “We are thankful for the support of the Scouts over these many years.”

Sharing God’s Love helps with food, clothing and utility needs for more than 11,000 individuals in the St. Andrews, Irmo, and Ballentine areas.

Troop 91 collected donations from the Gardendale and Whitehall neighborhoods. The Troop also partnered with Food Lion to collect food from their patrons. Troop 91 delivered the food to Sharing God’s Love February 8. Private individuals and Costco contributed $672 to help support the purchase of essential items needed by Sharing God’s Love.

“Scouting for Food is one of our most important service projects,” said Jerry Hilbish, Scoutmaster of Troop 91. “Sharing God’s Love and other food pantries have nearly depleted their food supplies over the holiday season and this event helps restock their shelves. All of the Scouts would like to thank the people from the Irmo and St. Andrews communities that donated to this food drive.”
