Seven Oaks Elementary Global Magnet is embracing the Primary Years Programme (PYP), a globally recognized framework by International Baccalaureate (IB) designed to nurture inquiry-based learning among elementary students. The school, located in District Five, celebrates a vibrant and diverse community with a student body representing over 25 nationalities, making cultural inclusion and belonging a cornerstone of its mission.
The PYP emphasizes student agency, critical thinking, and skills such as social responsibility, creativity, and problem-solving. By adopting this framework, Seven Oaks aims to equip students with the tools to become solution-oriented and globally minded citizens prepared for the future.
Previously a Media Magnet school, the transition to a global theme aligns with the school’s evolving identity and priorities. “The transition from a media-focused approach to embracing a global theme aligns well with strategic goals for future success,” said District Five Magnet Director Sara Wheeler. “This initiative presents a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with various cultures and global perspectives.”
As the first school in the Midlands to implement the PYP, Seven Oaks Elementary Global Magnet sets a strong example of how a global curriculum can foster a more peaceful and inclusive world.
