Shepherd’s Center fall session begins September 17

If you are interested in stretching your mind and body while making new friends, consider registering for the Shepherd’s Center of St. Andrews Fall Session of Adventures in Learning, which begins September 17.

The Center, an interfaith learning program for active adults aged 50 and older, meets Tuesdays onsite at Center headquarters, Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Road, Columbia, and Wednesdays and Thursdays via Zoom for the eight-week session.

Subject courses and activity classes, taught by knowledgeable volunteers from local colleges and the community, range from chair yoga to a look into WWII espionage.

You can get acquainted with important but lesser-known women of the Bible, explore Poland past and present, or find out about Korea, “the forgotten war.” You can learn to speak Spanish or how to play the ukulele or succeed at Mah Jongg. You can survey Hollywood movies and shows through the decades, follow the massive multi-agency crime investigation occasioned by the 2002 DC sniper shootings, or improve your skills at quilting, bridge, or watercolor. There’s more, all detailed at shepherdscenterofstandrews.org.

Zoom classes are live and most are recorded and can be enjoyed at the participant’s leisure. Registered members can also sample classes from the Center’s library of recorded courses from past sessions.

Fall session costs $45 for unlimited classes and activities. For more information, course descriptions, and registration details, go to the website: shepherdscenterofstandrews.org, contact the Center office, 803-731-9394 to request a session brochure, or visit facebook.
