Striper Tournament Season Heats Up at Clark’s Hill

CLARK’S HILL – The Midlands Striper Club kicked off its summer fishing season with the first of two tournaments on Clark’s Hill Lake on June 21. A total of 11 teams competed in the June Tournament, weighing in 22 striped bass for a combined total of 200.36 pounds — an impressive 9.11-pound average per fish.

All teams successfully brought in a full two-fish creel to the scales.

Top finishers included:

  • 1st Place: Team Been Lure’d In –(Shown pictured above) Captained by John Temple and Ty Taylor, the team led the field with a total weight of 33.74 pounds. They also took home the Team Wildman Big Fish Award, sponsored by The Nichols Store, for landing a 24.84-pound striper.
  • 2nd Place: Team Main Street Mafia – Captained by Aaron Hatfield and Bret Ricard with 30.53 pounds.
  • 3rd Place: Team Knot Right – Captained by Allen Long and Amelia Keller, weighing in 26.27 pounds.

The Midlands Striper Club, a family-oriented organization dedicated to conservation and community, holds monthly meetings to promote fellowship and responsible fishing. The next meeting will be held July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Flight Deck in Lexington.

The next tournament is scheduled for July 19 at Dreher Island.
