IRMO, S.C. – The Center for Advanced Technical Studies will host an Open House on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its campus located at 916 Mt. Vernon Church Road in Chapin.
The Center, known for offering hands-on, career-focused education, serves high school students in grades 9 through 12 across School District Five. It features 17 Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, including in-demand fields like Cybersecurity, Welding, Culinary Arts, Veterinary Science, Engineering, and Law Enforcement.
The Open House offers a chance for parents, students, and community members to explore classrooms and state-of-the-art labs. Current teachers and students will be on hand to share details about the programs, curriculum, and career pathways offered through The Center.
“This event opens the doors to the public and district families to showcase the many college and career-focused opportunities available to our students in School District Five,” said Roy Frick, Assistant Director of The Center. “The incredible work of our CTE instructors prepares students for the workforce now and provides a rigorous foundation for postsecondary success. We’re excited to welcome the community to experience the excellence of CTE education firsthand.”
Attendees will be able to tour the full facility and learn how students are gaining real-world skills that translate into both immediate job opportunities and further education.
