Former Irmo High School Head Basketball Coach Tim Whipple will be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) Hall of Fame.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame,” Whipple said. “I am so grateful for my years at Irmo High School. It has been one incredible journey and I share this honor with the many who were instrumental in any success I was able to enjoy.”
Whipple was selected for this national honor after being nominated by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association. This selection was based on longevity, service to high school athletics, career honors, and other specific state criteria. Whipple was the second-winningest basketball coach in South Carolina’s history. He retired in 2024 after 43 years on the job. He finished his career with 848 wins and six state titles.
This year’s induction ceremony for the Class of 2025 will take place at the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s convention held in Rapid City, South Dakota on June 24, 2025. This year’s class includes coaches from twenty states across the nation.
The National High School Athletic Coaches Association is the oldest coach’s association in the nation formed by coaches for coaches, and has honored coaches from across the nation with induction into the NHSACA National Hall of Fame since 1996.
