IRMO — The Town of Irmo marked Arbor Day on Thursday, Dec. 4, with the planting of a Japanese Coral Bark Maple in the newly renovated Veterans Park on Palmetto Wood Parkway.
Members of the Irmo Public Works Department were joined by Mayor Bill Danielson, Town Administrator Jim Crosland, Deputy Town Administrator Doug Polen and Public Works Director Whit Cline, all of whom participated in the ceremonial planting.
The town plants a tree each year in recognition of Arbor Day as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and urban forestry. Irmo has been recognized as a Tree City for the past 15 years, a designation that reflects the community’s continued efforts to maintain and expand its tree canopy.
Town officials said the annual Arbor Day planting serves as both a celebration of the town’s natural resources and a reminder of the importance of preserving green spaces for future generations.
