2024 Dutch Fork High School graduate William Tryon has been accepted to study abroad in Germany.
Tryon completed four years of German classes at Dutch Fork High School. He has been accepted into the Berlin Summer Semester, which is a partnership between German and American universities, sponsored by the Institute for the International Education of Students Abroad.
Tryon will take classes in German Language and Culture and German Film. He will live in university student housing for the summer while he attends language classes and participates in community programs. He will have the opportunity to earn college credits for his language and cultural studies.
“I am so excited for William,” Dutch Fork High School German teacher Frau Karla Bell said. “After four years as a student of German, he has been chosen to participate in a full-immersion experience in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. William will experience the culture of Germany, improve his proficiency in German, and make amazing memories.”
Dutch Fork Principal Dr. Gerald Gary said, “We are tremendously proud of William and we wish him success in his studies abroad this summer. This is a great opportunity to gain a different perspective of the world, improve communication skills, earn college credit, and create lasting friendships.”
William Tryon is the fourth student at Dutch Fork High in recent years to be selected for a study abroad program in Germany.
