On April 30 the bench earned in the Trex Recycling Challenge was delivered by members of the St. Andrews Woman’s Club to the residents of Stephen’s House (one of the Aldersgate SNM homes for adults with special needs).
The three young men who live in Stephen’s House have been assisting the members of the St. Andrews Woman’s Club sort and bag recyclable plastic film (like grocery bags, bubble wrap, ziploc type bags, etc.) since September 2025 in their quest to collect and deposit 1000 pounds of plastic film at qualifying grocery store drop-off locations around the area.
The goal was reached, and the young men were rewarded with a new Trex bench made from a composite decking material manufactured from recycled plastic film. The club members and the young men who helped in this project were excited that their environmental efforts to keep 1000 pounds of plastic waste out of landfills, waterways, and roadsides were rewarded by winning the Trex bench.
