Youth wresting camp starts Monday

In association with the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, the Irmo Youth Wrestling Club – KingPins will host a Youth Wrestling Camp at the Seven Oaks Gymnasium Facility from Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. The camp will run daily from 1 pm to 5 pm and is open to both boys and girls aged 4-17 of all skill levels, with beginners especially welcomed.

The camp is designed to provide personalized one-on-one training and interaction, with coaches tailoring instruction to each participant’s skill level. It will feature Folkstyle (high school style) and Freestyle wrestling techniques, led by local high school and middle school wrestling coaches as well as former college wrestlers. The aim is to guide participants in furthering their wrestling ambitions in local leagues and tournaments, ultimately preparing them for competition in the South Carolina High School League.

The cost of the camp is $130 for five days of instruction. It will be held in the gymnasium of the Seven Oaks Recreation Center. Walk-ups are welcomed, and single-day or multi-day participation is allowed for those unable to attend all five days. T-shirts will be given to all paid participants, both single-day and multi-day wrestlers.

Participants are asked to bring a snack, water, towel or extra t-shirt, and running shoes. While wrestling shoes are not required, they are encouraged.
