A 13-year-old boy was killed while handling a firearm at the Harbison Garden Apartments on Sunday, December 19. The victim and another boy had the gun in their possession around 11 pm that evening when it discharged killing the boy.
Investigators from the Columbia Police Department are looking into how the boys gained access to the gun, where it came from, and why it was loaded.
Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Harbison Gardens is located at 401 Columbiana Dr, Columbia, near Harbison Blvd.
