Beauty pageant queen gives back to community

Laila Moore is a 15 year old pageant queen who has raised more than 7000 hygiene products this year to be donated to several schools and back to the community.  Her community service platform for the pageants is to let children with autism know that they don’t have to be afraid to chase their dreams. Laila has been diagnosed with Asperger’s and has chosen to beat the odds and not become a stereotype. By bringing an awareness to the spectrum her motto is ‘do not box yourself in, it is okay to be multifaceted.’

Moore has excelled in academics being honored for National Junior Honors Society in both 2023 and 2024 at SC Connections Academy and she loves theater at Columbia Children’s Theatre.

Her current pageant titles are Young Miss Teen Midlands and Miss Sweetheart Lake Murray.

Currently she volunteers at the Richland Public Library-Main. Her community service includes Prisma Health Children’s Hospital, SC Salvation Army, Harvest Hope Food Bank and Oliver Gospel Mission just to name a few. She’s now working on a short story about her life.
