Chapin Elementary Rallies Around Young Student Battling Leukemia

CHAPIN, S.C. – The Chapin Elementary School community has united in support of one of their own – Rosalie, a 4K student recently diagnosed with leukemia. As she undergoes treatment and remains out of the classroom, her school family has stepped up to help ease the burden on her loved ones.

Upon hearing the news of Rosalie’s diagnosis, staff and students immediately launched into action. Their first initiative, a Hat Day for Rosalie, raised more than $3,000 to assist her family with mounting medical and living expenses.

Now, the school is continuing its support through two additional fundraisers:

  • The Rosalie Rally Bracelet Fundraiser is underway, offering bracelets in both adult and child sizes for $3 each.

  • On Tuesday, April 10, local favorite Sweet Izzy’s Ice Cream Shop will donate 15% of all proceeds from the day’s sales directly to Rosalie’s family.

Much of the coordination has been led by CES school counselors Mrs. Steadman and Mrs. Koch, who have stayed in close contact with Rosalie’s family and teacher throughout this time.

“The kindness and compassion shown by our students, staff, and community have been truly overwhelming,” said one school official. “This is what it means to be a Chapin Eagle – to lift each other up in tough times.”

Anyone interested in supporting the ongoing efforts, including purchasing a bracelet, is encouraged to contact the school and ask for Mrs. Steadman or Mrs. Koch.
