Two Irmo High School Seniors, Aryana Stokes and Nyaveia Creech, were awarded $1000 scholarships by McGregor Presbyterian Church during Senior Awards night at Irmo High School on May 25. One-half of each scholarship is paid to their College of choice and one-half to the individual for ancillary college costs.
Aryana Stokes graduated in the top 6 percent of her class with a host of academic achievements and awards in addition to her participation in a variety of organizations and activities. Stokes excelled in four years of Honors classes including in the International Baccalaureate Program.
She served as Athletic Student Aide Captain for two years which has helped nurture her interest in a major in Exercise Science from Winston-Salem State University.
On Senior Awards night, Stokes also earned the awards: Exemplary IB Diploma Career Candidate and IB Diploma Candidate.
Nyaveia Creech graduated in the top 7 percent of her class with a host of academic achievements and honors as well as participation in a variety of organizations and activities. Creech also played JV and Varsity Softball and Volleyball serving as Team Captain in her JV years.
Her education and extracurricular activities, both within the school and the community, have been focused on the medical field. This underscores her interest in a degree in Nursing from North Carolina A&T University.
On Senior Night, Creech was honored as an Extended Studies Diploma Candidate and with an Irmo Yellow Jackets Club Scholarship.
