Classic Cars, Mardi Gras and 500 Dogs Set for “Bark to the Park”

By Mike DuBose

A full day of horsepower, high-flying dogs and Mardi Gras flair is coming to the Midlands as “Bark to the Park” returns Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Saluda Shoals Park.

The event supports Pawmetto Lifeline, a nonprofit animal rescue organization that provided support to 50,000 animals in 2025 and saved 24,000 from euthanasia in county shelters before placing them in adoptive homes.

Organizers promise a packed schedule of attractions for all ages.

Classic and Exotic Car Show

Car enthusiasts can expect to see everything from Ferraris and Lamborghinis to classic muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s — and even a Rolls-Royce. Trophies and prizes, including $300 detailing packages, will be awarded.

Owners of classic vehicles built between 1908 and 1979 are invited to participate. There is no registration fee, thanks to show sponsors, though donations are welcome. Car show arrival time is 9–9:30 a.m., and space is limited.

K-9’s in Flight

The nationally acclaimed K-9s In Flight will feature rescued dogs performing high-energy tricks, including long-distance frisbee catches and acrobatic flips.

Mardi Gras Dog Parade

More than 500 dogs representing approximately 50 breeds are expected to participate in the Mardi Gras-themed parade. Owners may preregister online or join the day of the event. Parade walkers will receive a free “Bark to the Park” T-shirt and a bag of goodies.

Contests and Family Activities

The day will also include pet trick contests, a look-alike competition for dogs and owners, scavenger hunts, food and beverage vendors, live music, and beer and wine.

On-site registration is $50 for adults, $35 for children ages 6–12, and free for children under 6. Proceeds benefit Pawmetto Lifeline’s rescue and shelter operations. Organizers note that every $100 donation helps feed and care for a homeless rescue animal for 30 days.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early — around 10:30 a.m. — using the St. Andrews Road entrance near 6071 St. Andrews Road for convenient parking and early access to the car show.

For event details or to preregister, visit www.barktothepark.com.

Organizers describe the event as a “once-in-a-lifetime” celebration supporting a mission many Midlands families proudly stand behind: saving homeless pets.
