Irmo Town Councilman and Mayoral candidate Bill Danielson removes a political campaign sign after the Harbison Community Association notified him that it was a violation for the sign to be on HCA property.
“I’m very happy to comply,” said Danielson. “It is clearly stated in their bylaws where and when you can place political signs so for me it is not an issue.”
Within minutes of the notification, Danielson removed the signage from the gazebo at Hamilton Park that the HCA owns.
Controversy still remains over Mayor Barry Walker’s campaign signs that went up a month before the association covenants allowed.
Walker argued the Harbison Community Association didn’t notify all its members that the covenant on political signage had changed. Fines could be imposed up to $1,000 for the offenders and the matter was being reviewed by HCA lawyers.
