Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Shana Catoe as the new coordinator of Student Nutrition. Catoe currently serves as the director of Student Nutrition for Chester County School District.
“I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties staff,” Catoe said. “It is an honor to have been selected as the new Student Nutrition Coordinator and join a dynamic and progressive district where student nutrition is more than just a meal; it is an extension of the health and wellness educational curriculum. Together, we will grow a student nutrition program that will utilize the latest technologies and equipment while serving our students with love and a smile.”
Catoe has 23 years of experience in school food service. She attended South Carolina State University earning a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Management. Catoe also earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. Prior to serving the Chester County School District, she served as food service coordinator in Calhoun County Public Schools and as a nutrition consultant at the Carolina Boys Home and Center for Change.
“Ms. Catoe brings with her a wealth of experience in the student nutrition arena, so I am excited to have her bring those skills to our school district,” Executive Director of Operations Dave Weissman said. “Ms. Catoe’s focus and excitement about being in School District Five can only enhance our great program.
