Lexington-Richland School District Five has selected Dr. Jina Blount as the administrator to lead School District Five’s new Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE) virtual program.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the students, families, and teachers in FIVE,” Blount said. “The creation of FIVE reflects School District Five’s response to the needs of our community and the commitment to have all students excel in their educational journey.”
FIVE includes live classroom lessons, daily attendance and the exclusive use of technology resources for teaching and learning. Face-to-face classes are not a part of the regular planning, teaching, learning activities or submission of materials.
Blount is beginning her 20th year in School District Five. She currently serves as the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Spring Hill High School and previously was an assistant principal at Irmo Middle School and Dutch Fork High School.
Staff working in FIVE will remain assigned to their home school and will continue to report to their home school principal. Blount will oversee and manage the communication, coordination, details, and structure of the FIVE program throughout the 2020-21 school year. Blount’s title will remain Assistant Principal for Instruction, and board approval was not required for her reassignment to the FIVE program, district officials said.
