IRMO – Several talented students from Lexington-Richland School District Five earned accolades in the South Carolina State Fair Art contest, showcasing their skills across various categories such as Two-Dimensional Art, Three-Dimensional Art, and Photography. The competition was open to South Carolina residents in grades K-12 from public, private, and home schools.
District Five Winners:
- Best in Show (Elementary Level Two-Dimensional Art): Katherine Ju, Chapin Intermediate
- Grade 2 Honorable Mention: Mia Tan, Lake Murray Elementary
- Grade 3 Photography (2nd Place): Parker Fortanbary, Piney Woods Elementary

- Grade 11 Three-Dimensional Art (3rd Place): Contessa Minico, Chapin High
District Five Coordinator of Athletics, Physical Education, & Arts Steven Puckett praised the young artists, stating, “It excites me to see them recognized as creative artists. I am proud of their accomplishments and initiative to be involved with the Arts in our schools and the community.”
Student artwork will be on display at the Cantey Building during the fair from October 9-20.
