Irmo deputy town administrator recognized for leadership, experience, and professional excellence
IRMO, S.C. — Doug Polen, deputy town administrator for the Town of Irmo, has earned the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Polen is one of more than 1,300 local government management professionals worldwide to hold the designation through ICMA’s Voluntary Credentialing Program. The credential recognizes individuals who demonstrate significant senior-level management experience in local government, hold a college degree—preferably in public administration or a related field—and show a sustained commitment to ethical leadership, professional development, and lifelong learning.
Polen qualifies for the credential based on more than 10 years of professional experience in local government executive roles. Prior to his appointment as Irmo’s deputy town administrator, he served as community development director for the Town of Moncks Corner.
ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics by strengthening the skills and effectiveness of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other local government professionals. Decisions made by ICMA members impact millions of residents across thousands of communities, from small towns to major metropolitan areas.
