Monday was a positive day for Dutch Fork spring sports.
It started with the boys’ golf team earning a spot in the state tournament. The Silver Foxes shot a 325 to finish seventh at the Class 5A Division I Upper State tournament held at the WildeWood Club in Columbia.
Dorman won the tournament, followed by Mauldin, Blythewood, Clover and Boiling Springs to round out the Top five.
The 2-day state final will start Monday at Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club in Conway.
Later that evening, the baseball team took a 1-0 lead in a Best-of-Three Upper State District One play-in series against Clover. The Silver Foxes trailed 7-2 after 1 ½ innings before scoring six unanswered runs over the next four innings to take an 8-7 lead.
After Clover tied the game in the Top 6th, Luciano Cesario belted a 2-run single to put Dutch Fork ahead. A scoreless Top 7th pitched by Banks Head sealed the 10-8 victory in Game One.
Game Two took place at Clover with Game Three, if necessary, back in Irmo Friday. The winner would travel to top seed Dorman on Saturday.
SOFTBALL

The Lady Silver Foxes found themselves in a Class 5A Division I Upper State District Two elimination game Wednesday against J.L. Mann.
On Monday, Dutch Fork was defeated 5-3 by Wade Hampton. After trailing 3-0, the Lady Silver rallied to tie the game off an error and 2-run single by Adysen Baire in the Top 4th.
The Lady Generals scored two runs in the fifth inning and retired the final eight batters faced for the win.
SOCCER
Both Dutch Fork teams opened the Class 5A Division I playoffs on the road.
The Lady Silver Foxes traveled to Spring Valley Tuesday with the winner facing Blythewood Friday. The Dutch Fork boys opened Wednesday at Boiling Springs with the winner visiting J.L. Mann Saturday.
In Division II Lower State, the Irmo girls traveled to Berkeley Tuesday for its opening round match. A win would set up an All-Region, All-District Five matchup with top seed Chapin Friday.
The Irmo boys visited North Myrtle Beach Wednesday for its opening round match. The winner would then travel to Lucy Beckham Saturday.
