IRMO – Dutch Fork High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) students successfully completed the Vandora Heights City Collaborative Project.
Over the past eight weeks, 85 students in Tia Green’s Entrepreneurship classes engaged in a dynamic partnership that involved researching, planning, and constructing a model city. The project provided students with hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, business ownership, and community development. By working collaboratively, students not only honed their business skills but also developed an understanding of how various elements contribute to a thriving community.

SCDOT Director of Planning Machael Peterson and Latoya Grate-Adams, SCDOT Planning Administrator also spoke to students about critical topics such as infrastructure, zoning, and roadway planning in South Carolina, enriching the students’ learning experience with real-world insights.
“This project has been a transformative experience for our students,” Green said. “They have gained essential skills in starting, maintaining, and growing a business, all while understanding the vital role that businesses play in their communities.”
The Vandora Heights City Collaborative Project exemplifies the commitment of Dutch Fork High School to provide students with practical, applicable learning experiences that prepare them for future success.
