Irmo Goes International

Local residents and visitors from across the Midlands came together on April 26 for the Sharpvue Irmo International Festival, held at Moore Park. The festival, which celebrates the diverse cultural influences that shape the Irmo community, drew crowds eager to experience a global celebration of dance, music, food, and tradition.

Cultures from around the world were represented through vibrant performances, authentic cuisine, traditional attire, and interactive activities. The Prisma Amphitheater stage featured an all-day lineup of entertainment showcasing cultural expressions from West Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Greece, the UK, Korea, Puerto Rico, Spain, and India—including dancers, musicians, and a DJ.

Attendees also enjoyed a free Kid Zone filled with engaging activities such as face painting, martial arts demonstrations, henna tattoos, and balloon artistry. Enthusiasts admired displays of classic motorcycles and foreign automobiles, while artists and vendors offered a colorful array of handmade crafts and international products. Food options were plentiful, offering tastes from across the globe.

Mayor Bill Danielson officially opened the day’s festivities, which ran until 7 p.m., marking another successful celebration of Irmo’s global community spirit.

The Irmo International Festival first launched in 2019 and has continued to grow in popularity, promoting cultural understanding and community connection.
