IRMO, S.C. – The Dutch Fork Men’s Soccer Program recently paid tribute to Chris Witte, one of the team’s original captains from its inaugural 1993 season. Witte, a standout goalkeeper, leader, and teammate, left a lasting impact on the program that continues to be celebrated today.

As the starting goalkeeper and team captain, Witte was known for his skill, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his team. His energy, enthusiasm, and humor made him an inspiration both on and off the field.
After graduating from Dutch Fork, Witte continued his soccer career at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was named Team MVP in 1996. Tragically, he passed away in a 1997 automobile accident in Nashville.
Annual Alumni Match & Jersey Retirement
To honor Witte’s memory, Dutch Fork hosts an annual Alumni Soccer Match in his name. In a historic moment for the program, his jersey became the first ever retired in Dutch Fork Men’s Soccer history.
His legacy continues to inspire current and future Silver Foxes, reminding them of the dedication, passion, and sportsmanship that define the Dutch Fork soccer family.
