The past weekend provided a positive finish to the 2025-26 season for Irmo girls’ basketball and head coach Coretta Ferguson.
It began last Friday as she proudly watched her two All-State players – guard Abby Livingston and eighth grader Lailah Singletary – get recognized during the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association banquet at Seawell’s Restaurant.
In the first season under Ferguson, the duo helped Irmo improve record-wise at 16-11 overall. The Lady Yellow Jackets also advanced past the second round for the first time since 2020.
They fell in the first round to eventual 2-time defending Class 5A Division II champion Berkeley. Livington finished the season averaging 16.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 3.7 steals in earning All-Region 4-5A honors.

The Region 4-5A Player of the Year, Singletary led Irmo in scoring (23.7 points per game), was second in rebounds (8.7 boards per game) and steals (3.6 per game).
On Saturday, Ferguson resumed her coaching duties. This time, she was an assistant coach for the North team at the North-South All-Star Game held at Brookland-Cayce High School.
Led by Gaffney’s Shiriah Harris, the North came away with the 77-71 victory.
DUTCH FORK HONOREES
Forward Justus Bell and guard Samajee Govan were also recognized for making the SCBCA Class 5A All-State team.
Bell was selected to the South Carolina team that faced North Carolina in the Carolinas Classic on March 21 at Dorman High School. He and Govan helped Dutch Fork repeat as Region 4-5A champion.
