Irmo Firefighter James Muller was honored at EdVenture Children’s Museum on Saturday, June 1st, during their annual Lighting of the Firefly Ceremony. This special event, which traditionally marks the beginning of summer, saw the museum’s giant mascot, Eddie, officially introduced with a firefly named “J” on his finger, in honor of Muller.
The museum had earlier invited the public to participate in naming the firefly, receiving over one hundred nominations. Among those, Irmo’s own James Muller was chosen, recognizing his dedication and service to the community.
Just days before the ceremony, on May 28, Irmo dedicated the First Responder Memorial near the Police Station on Columbia Ave. Firefighter Muller’s name is engraved there, commemorating his ultimate sacrifice.
