IRMO – Students at Seven Oaks Elementary School now have a fun and exciting way to get new books thanks to the St. Andrews Woman’s Club, which recently presented the school with Inchy the Book Vending Machine.
The vending machine, stocked with a wide selection of books, was donated along with funding to keep it filled for the next three years. The project was made possible through club fundraisers and generous grants from the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of South Carolina, South Carolina Student Loan, as well as support from local businesses and individual donors.
“Inchy” is designed to encourage literacy and reward positive behavior. Students earn special tokens that they can use to “buy” a book of their choice from the machine.
The initiative supports the school’s ongoing efforts to foster a love of reading among young learners.
