The Irmo Police Department Community Foundation (IPDCF) in conjunction with the Irmo Police Department held a food drive to serve the less fortunate in the community by raising money and buying groceries to distribute.
On October 3, 2022, participants delivered perishable and non-perishable groceries to fifty families in the Irmo and Columbia area while providing each family with a large pizza.
This program would not have been possible without the generosity and support of Publix at Murray Landing in Irmo, as well as the special efforts of IPDCF’s president, Hamed Javad, in pursuing this grant from the Town of Irmo. Many recipients provided positive feedback and numerous “thank you” notes.
This event provided an opportunity for the Irmo Police Department to interact with the community in order to build long-term relationships that will benefit both our community and law enforcement for years to come.
Everyone helped make this food drive a success. Irmo Police Officers, Irmo Police Department Community Foundation board members, the Town of Irmo, social workers from local schools, volunteers from local churches, and low-income housing units are all part of this effort.
