Irmo Chamber names student, teacher of the month

Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet 2nd grade teacher Deidra Johnson and 4th-grade student Aria Melton have been named the Irmo Chamber of Commerce’s Teacher and Student of the Month.

“Ms. Johnson is a very talented and loving teacher who is amazing at incorporating the arts into her teaching strategies to help her students learn and grow,” Principal Karey Fisher said. “She also builds lasting relationships with her students and their families. She is a true gift to our school and we are thankful to call her a Nursery Road Champion.”

Fourth-grade teacher Kerry Moore said, “Aria Melton is a very talented 4th grade student at Nursery Road. She consistently demonstrates maturity beyond her academic years and in her actions with her peers and teachers. Her kindness shines brightly as she helps classmates understand difficult concepts and volunteers her time in school activities, always with a warm and encouraging smile. I am so thankful to be her teacher.”
