The Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce recognized Oak Pointe Elementary School fifth grader Runrun Flores and teacher Lucas White as its Student and Teacher of the Month.
“Runrun is one of our top academic students,” said Principal Christian English. “He’s been a true leader in our student government, helps with service projects, and is a member of our Math Olympiad team. He is kind, respectful, and helpful to his peers and teachers. He is a well-rounded student, and we are so proud of him.”
English also praised White, who serves as the school’s physical education teacher and current Teacher of the Year.
“Coach White’s technical job is PE teacher, but he is truly the heart of Oak Pointe Elementary,” English said. “He is committed to teaching physical education and the importance of staying active. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure students feel safe, secure, and in an environment where they can learn.”
