Seven Oaks Elementary School MEDIA Magnet Teacher Leslie Jones and student Ky’mani Mercer have been named the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce Teacher and Student of the Month for March.
“Leslie Jones is not only a third-grade teacher at Seven Oaks Elementary, but she is also our Teacher of the Year,” Seven Oaks Elementary School Principal Christian English said. “The amazing thing about Mrs. Jones is not only is she brilliant and a master academically but the amount of time that she puts into the social and emotional well-being of her students is unmatched. She is a joy and a pleasure to work with and we are honored to have her at Seven Oaks Elementary.
“Our student of the month is 5th grader Ky’mani Mercer. She is a magical young lady. When you think about a student that you want to clone, that is Ky’mani. She is a leader in the class, she is smart and has a heart bigger than gold. Recently her teacher wasn’t feeling well and Ky’mani without being asked stepped up to make sure the class kept going and that her teacher got the support she needed. I am so proud to have Ky’mani at Seven Oaks Elementary School.”
