Irmo Chamber Names Teacher, Student of the Month

The Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce has recognized two members of the Dutch Fork Middle School community as its October Student and Teacher of the Month — eighth grader Elizabeth Neese and teacher Amanda Pifer.

“Ms. Amanda Pifer is our current Teacher of the Year,” said Principal Vernon Sava. “She has been teaching for 18 years, with the last 12 at Dutch Fork Middle School. She teaches PE and leads our student council. She is adored by her students and colleagues alike. She radiates what it means to be a true and kind teacher and person. She’s a bright light at our school, and we are so grateful she’s part of Dutch Fork Middle.”

Sava also praised the student honoree.
Elizabeth Neese is an eighth grader and our Student Body President,” he said. “She’s also a founding member of our Student Ambassador group. She not only shines in the classroom but sets a strong example for her peers each and every day.”

Both were recognized at the Chamber’s monthly membership luncheon.
