Irmo Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Teacher and Student of the Month

Irmo, SC – The Irmo Chamber of Commerce proudly announces its Teacher and Student of the Month for September, honoring Amanda Parker and Ashton Smyers from Irmo Elementary School.

Amanda Parker, the current Teacher of the Year, has earned high praise from Principal Shannon Fincannon. “She is an extraordinary teacher with a servant’s heart,” Fincannon stated. Parker’s commitment to her students is unparalleled; she continually seeks ways to enhance her teaching and support her students. She encourages her class to be positive risk-takers, ensuring every child feels seen, heard, safe, and loved. Her passion and dedication have made her a beloved figure among both students and colleagues at Irmo Elementary.

Fincannon also commended Ashton Smyers, a fifth grader who exemplifies kindness and compassion. “Ashton comes from a family that believes in spreading love and kindness. She is a world changer,” Fincannon said. Known for her bright smile and friendly greetings, Ashton is always ready to lend a hand and demonstrates a strong work ethic. Her efforts to make others feel special have earned her the admiration of her peers and teachers alike.
