Students also participated in assembling backpacks during the opening session as part of the statewide Backpack Buddies initiative. Each bag included a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack item, helping provide essential resources to families. The chapter earned prizes including passes to Adrenaline Monkey and Top Golf for their donations.

Returning national competitor Asiyah Carter shared her excitement about working with a new team this year while still earning gold. Serving as team captain, she demonstrated strong leadership and commitment throughout the competition.

“This year has been extremely challenging due to personal challenges in my family and it was very rewarding to see my students excel at the FCCLA conference,” FCCLA Advisor Tari Watson said. “These are some of the most meaningful student awards during my time at Irmo High School. I hope to keep up the good work in the future.”
