Irmo Middle School Student, Luke Sevilla, Clinches State Boxing Championship

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Irmo Middle School’s 7th-grade student, Luke Sevilla, secured the title of Novice Bantam Division 125 lbs Champion at the South Carolina State Silver Gloves Tournament held on December 16 at the Jamil Temple in Columbia.

Luke, a multi-talented athlete, not only excels in the boxing ring but also shines as a wrestler for Irmo Middle School in the 126 and 133 lbs weight classes. With aspirations to qualify for the Middle School Wrestling State Championships, Luke trains rigorously alongside his Irmo Middle School Wrestling teammates.

The South Carolina State Silver Gloves Tournament, an annual boxing event sanctioned by USA Boxing, attracts amateur boxers aged 10 to 15 years old from across the state. Luke’s victory in the Novice Bantam Division highlights his dedication to the sport and his ability to compete at a high level.

Beyond his achievements in combat sports, Luke has showcased his versatility on the Irmo C Team football squad, taking on roles as quarterback, running back, linebacker, and receiver throughout the season. His athleticism extends to the baseball field, where he eagerly anticipates securing a spot on the Irmo Middle School C team roster.
