Irmo Police Department on break-ins

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Irmo Police Department is currently working on a rash of vehicle break-ins within the New Friarsgate Neighborhood. It appears multiple individuals are involved and every car that was “broken” into was unlocked. Money, cell phones and guns have been taken out of these unlocked vehicles.

IPD advises residents to please remove all valuables from their vehicles and lock them. Most importantly, do not leave a gun in their vehicles. Some of the surveillance reviewed indicates that motion-activated flood lights appear to deter these individuals, with some running away from the vehicles.

Residents can help the IPD to #FloodTheGate by leaving their outside lights on overnight.

IPD is still actively working on these cases, if residents have any surveillance footage that they would like to share with IPD, it can be sent via e-mail to [email protected]. If any suspicious activity occurs, especially at night, please report it by calling dispatch at 803-785-2521.
