Leaphart Elementary School marked a major milestone with a 50th-anniversary celebration on the 50th day of school! The event brought together students and staff for a fun-filled day of activities, creativity, and reflection on five decades of memories.
The festivities kicked off with a Town Hall Celebration in the school theater, where students and staff sang “Happy Birthday” to Leaphart and admired a large birthday cake designed by Mrs. Parker. Each class had the chance to decorate the cake with sprinkles they crafted themselves, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
The school’s morning news show featured fun facts about Leaphart’s history and a nostalgic slideshow of pictures from throughout the years.
The day was packed with STEAM challenges centered around the number 50. Students showcased their creative projects in hallways and on bulletin boards, combining fun with hands-on learning. During lunch, everyone enjoyed a slice of birthday cake, rounding out the celebration.
In honor of the milestone, Horace Mann presented a $50 gift certificate to Mrs. Reit, Leaphart’s longest-serving staff member with 28 years of dedicated service.
While the anniversary day was memorable, the Leaphart community is already looking forward to a larger celebration in the spring to honor its 50 years of achievements and continue creating lasting memories.
Here’s to another 50 years of learning, growth, and success at Leaphart Elementary!
