CHAPIN, S.C. — The American Legion Auxiliary Chapin Unit 193 has proudly announced its five delegate selections for the 78th annual session of ALA Palmetto Girls State, set to take place June 8–14, 2025, at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.
This respected program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of South Carolina, offers rising high school senior girls a unique, hands-on experience in government, Americanism, and citizenship. Delegates are selected based on their leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence.
Representing Chapin Unit 193 for the 2025 session are:
- Eleanore Brownfield
- Emma Grace Easterling
- Jennifer Kujawa
- Grace Tharp
- Ann Yeh
These impressive young women were chosen through a competitive selection process, which included interviews and speeches conducted by Auxiliary members. The delegates hail from Chapin High School and Spring Hill High School.
Each participant receives a $415 scholarship from the Auxiliary to attend the week-long program, which will culminate in a visit to the South Carolina State House, where students simulate running a state government—from electing officials to debating legislation.
“The Auxiliary is incredibly proud of these young leaders,” said a spokesperson for Unit 193. “They represent the best of our community, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences and how they will use this opportunity to grow in leadership and civic engagement.”
Following their return, the delegates will be honored at a reception on August 17 at American Legion Post 193, where they will share highlights from their week at Girls State.
Two outstanding delegates from each state’s program are later selected to attend ALA Girls Nation in Washington, D.C., making this a potentially life-changing opportunity for South Carolina’s rising stars.
