As a District 5 teacher for 25 years, I frequently get asked whom to vote for on the board. While I can’t tell others how to vote, I want to share my perspective.
Ken Loveless is a definitive YES for me! Our first meeting, about 15 years ago when I started an intervention math program at CMS, remains memorable. I shared my vision of applying math to real-world situations, and Ken stepped up to support me through his “Building Futures for the Carolinas” program. He connected me with the Mechanical Contractors Association of South Carolina, which provided crucial funding and mentorship for projects like building theater sets and classroom platforms.
This support transformed my students’ confidence and skills, allowing them to see math as a creative tool and inspiring many to explore advanced technical programs. Ken didn’t just write a check; he engaged actively and encouraged me to enhance our students’ experiences. Even in challenging times, he advocated fiercely for our program with district officials.
Since that first meeting, I’ve seen Ken in various roles: supporting his wife Jondy, a former LexRich5 Board Member, and as a current D5 Board Member. He has been an active volunteer in our schools and was honored as D5 Business Volunteer of the Year long before he considered running for the board.
In all these capacities, Ken consistently prioritizes what’s best for students and teachers. His kindness, compassion, and innovative thinking will benefit everyone in our district.
Ken Loveless’s dedication to our students and community is truly extraordinary, and I wholeheartedly support him for the District 5 School Board.
