The SC Philharmonic Orchestra kicked off its inaugural event, Music in My Neighborhood, with a captivating concert at the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, April 9th. This groundbreaking program aims to provide support to music teachers, school districts, and students while fostering awareness for the arts.
Throughout the week-long event, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy high-quality live music experiences, all at no charge. From classical compositions to modern melodies, the diverse repertoire showcased the orchestra’s talent and versatility, captivating audiences of all ages.
Among the distinguished guests were SC Philharmonic board member JB Beckett, Executive Director Rhonda Hunsinger, Musical Director Morihiko Nakahara, and Education and Community Outreach Director Susan Cafferty. Their dedication and leadership were instrumental in bringing this innovative program to fruition.
Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson, a longstanding supporter of the arts, introduced the brass ensemble with enthusiasm and pride. With his extensive involvement in the SC Philharmonic Orchestra, including serving on the board of directors since 2009 and chairing the organization three times, Mayor Danielson exemplifies a commitment to enriching our community through music and culture.
