My wife, Catherine Huddle, has fought for our community

In 2017 my wife, Catherine (Cathy) Huddle, attended a school board meeting and came back dismayed. The meeting was about building what would become Piney Woods Elementary on Amicks Ferry Rd outside Chapin. Cathy was disheartened that, despite massive public opposition, the board voted 6-1 to build the school in that location.

She began researching the purchase of the land for the school and found more disturbing information. She examined the district’s finances (she has a degree in Finance and worked in executive finance positions at Blue Cross and Colonial Life) and became more troubled by what she found.

After watching the board’s failure to listen to the community and poor use of tax dollars, she decided to run for the board in 2020. I have since witnessed her spending countless hours fielding calls and texts from parents and teachers and preparing for meetings. She does her research, listens and asks questions – all to ensure that she is always making decisions that are in the best interests of our district.

Cathy is a wonderful mother to our D5 graduates, a wonderful daughter to her 88-year-old (retired teacher) mother, the best life partner I could have – and fully dedicated to the students of our district.  When you re-elect her to the District Five school board she will continue to use her expertise and hard work to ensure that all 17,000 of “her children” receive the best education possible.
