Richland County’s “Stuff a Bus” Holiday Drive Now Accepting Donations

Richland County’s generosity is rolling into the holiday season once again. For the ninth straight year, the County’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team is leading its annual Stuff a Bus donation drive, collecting toys, clothing and essential items for children served by Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Through December 4, residents are encouraged to help Stuff an Ambulance by donating new, unwrapped items at EMS Headquarters in downtown Columbia. All contributions support CASA, an award-winning program that trains volunteers to advocate for children navigating the family court and welfare systems.

Last year, with an assist from Santa, EMS staff delivered five ambulances filled with gifts to CASA. Employees and volunteers—dubbed “elves” for the day—sorted and prepared items for distribution to children across the county’s family court system.

This year’s donation site is:

EMS Headquarters
1410 Laurens Street, Columbia
Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
(The building is located beside the parking lot behind the County Administration Building; donors can look for the EMS ambulance fleet nearby.)

Accepted items include:

  • Toys

  • Blankets

  • Socks and children’s clothing

  • Book bags

  • Hair care items

  • Children’s eating utensils

  • Books

  • Gift cards

Community members with questions can contact Capt. Winta Adams or Lt. Kaitlyn Griffin at 803-576-3409.

Richland County EMS invites residents to help brighten the season for local children—one donated gift at a time.
