IRMO, S.C. – The Lexington-Richland School District Five FFA chapter has earned top honors as a Gold Chapter in South Carolina through the National Chapter Award Program.
This prestigious recognition highlights the chapter’s commitment to excellence and its success in implementing the mission and strategies of the National FFA Organization. The award recognizes chapters that actively use the National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS) and a Program of Activities (POA) to grow leaders, build communities, and strengthen agriculture.
“We are so proud of our chapter and hope you will join us in celebrating this honor,” said Advisor Jessica Hidalgo. “Thank you, School District Five, for supporting Lexington-Richland 5 FFA, our students, and our agricultural education programs.”
In South Carolina, chapters that submit a National Chapter Award application are evaluated and recognized at the state FFA convention with either a Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Superior distinction. The top 12 chapters designated as Gold Chapters will also be eligible for the SC Governor’s Citation Award, which honors the highest-scoring chapters in three key areas: Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture.
These top-performing applications will advance to the National FFA Organization for consideration and possible recognition at the 98th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The National FFA Organization currently serves over 850,000 student members across the country. As an intracurricular student organization, FFA empowers young people to develop leadership skills, pursue personal growth, and achieve career success in the agricultural sector. Students also gain hands-on experience by applying classroom learning in competitions at the local, state, and national levels.
