Schools get grants from fundraisers

Seven teachers in District 5 schools received grants for their instructional projects thanks to Ken and Jondy Loveless who sponsored the Paddling for Teachers canoe event in October 2020.

This was a fundraiser for the District 5 Foundation to support innovative teaching in District 5 classrooms.

Paddling for Teachers provided more than $6,000 for teacher grants this school year.

Elizabeth Dodson of Ballentine Elementary School was awarded $1,500 for a Ukulele Project. Susan Epting of Dutch Fork Middle School was awarded $2,000 for a Table Top Teaching project. Elizabeth Knott, Robin Campbell and Jennifer Ebert of Lake Murray Elementary were awarded $2,000 for Books to Break the Summer Slide project. Scott Stogner of Chapin High School was awarded $2,000 for an afterschool peer tutoring program, Eagle Enrichment. Linda Byars from Irmo High School was awarded $1,000 for her special needs students’ gardening project.
