Students earn first place in science competition

Dutch Fork High School STEM students Mustafa Azhar and Annie Xu both earned first place in their respective categories in the Oral Presentation Competition at the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science, held at Furman University March 28.

Azhar’s presentation (Wildfire Ash Disrupts Heart Development in Chick Embryos) finished in first place in the General Biology category. Xu’s presentation (Neural Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes for Neuroregeneration) finished in first place in the Cell and Molecular Biology category.

The objective of the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS) is to promote the advancement and constructive use of science in South Carolina.
