Irmo Police Chief Courtney Dennis on Monday announced The Irmo Police have located a suspicious device near the intersection of Cressfell Road and Chapelwhite Road near the entrance into the Hidden Oaks subdivision.
During the search, the bridge into the neighborhood had to be shut down until the suspicious device could be removed. Investigators have continued to canvass the area for anything that could assist in finding out how this suspicious item ended up where it was found.
The Irmo Police Department has requested the assistance from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, SLED and ATF to assist in the investigation and the removal of the unknown device.
There will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area looking for anyone who can provide any information and anyone who has information is asked to contact the Irmo Police Department or to utilize Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
